After learning about commercial diffusers it became very apparent there were no viable retail versions. Looking at all the fragrance and essential oil companies, there were lots of diffusers, but none that would cover the entire house.

Why Switching From Candles to HVAC Air Fresheners Is a Good Idea
Burning a scented candle may not be the best way to release a delightful aroma throughout your home. Although candles are a popular choice for adding scent, ambiance and style to a house, they do have drawbacks. They can cause problems ranging from fire hazards to health risks. In recent years, HVAC air fresheners have become a new go-to option for homeowners seeking safer, more effective ways of adding fragrances from one room to the next. While candles are common staples in many homes, they have their limitations when it comes to enhancing your living space with aromatic smells.

Candles do not give you the greatest benefit for the money. On average, one candle lasts for only 40 hours. To add aroma to a whole house, you need multiple candles. The price ranges from as low as $1.99 to over $200 for one candle. These three factors drive up your out-of-pocket expense on a weekly or monthly basis. Even though the upfront price of a candle is relatively low, over the long haul you will spend more money replacing them.
Many name-brand scented candles pose a potential health risk. These candles are made with well-known toxins. Burning candles releases these harsh chemicals throughout the air. This means you are inhaling substances into your lungs that could result in health problems down the road. A few of the most common toxins include:
Toluene and benzene are two chemicals that are classified as carcinogens. In other words, they are cancer-causing agents. If protecting your physical well-being is a top priority, consider another home fragrance option such as air conditioner air fresheners.
Candles do not provide a continuous aroma. The initial scent is intense but dissipates within a matter of minutes. Rarely does a scent from a candle spread to other areas in a house. Its aroma is generally limited to a space or room where it is located. Unlike HVAC scent systems for home, candles lack the staying power for keeping indoor spaces smelling good for a whole day.
There are legitimate safety concerns when using candles. Do you have young children or pets? If so, there is a greater likelihood a candle will get knocked over. This accident may cause minor or more serious concerns:
- Skin burns from the hot wax or open flame
- Fabric or fiber catching on fire
- Cuts from the broken glass
Compared to air conditioner air fresheners, candles are vulnerable to various hazards because they must sit in open spaces. This is one reason many apartment buildings and dorms prohibit their use. A candle’s open flames have the potential of causing physical harm. In fact, every year there are just over 8,000 candle-related house fires. So, they are not the safest way to scent a home.
Benefits of HVAC Scent Systems for Home
HVAC scenting offers several advantages over candles. One, it is designed to release mood-enhancing fragrances in large spaces. Two, the system is comprised of a plugged-in diffuser that releases the fragrance oils. This provides you with a long-lasting aroma everywhere in your home. Read more about various diffuser types with our diffuser guide.
Additionally, our diffuser settings are customizable. They work with our Apple and Google Play app, equipped with schedule and potency functions, to fit it to your lifestyle. For example, you can set the device to start and stop at specific times during the day and change fragrance potency levels whenever you want. With a whole home scenting system you can enjoy many benefits that candles do not offer:
- More cost-effective
- Releases constant, ongoing fragrance
- Disperses scented oils without a flame, heat, or hot wax
- Doesn’t use harsh chemicals, toxins, parabens or phthalates
- Can be placed discreetly anywhere in your utility room
HVAC air fresheners are versatile machines that have multiple uses. They are safe for homes, apartments and retail offices. They are ideal for aromatherapy as well as ridding your house of unpleasant odors. Our app-based diffuser system is the perfect solution for your home.
